Voxy Lady and Zigis have joined together to raise money for Matt Golinski Burns Victim through Plates for Mates.  I am reaching out to anyone in Sydney who would love to have a fantastic cooking class with Zigi, and at the same time raise money for Burns Victims.

We also have a plate for auction on the day which is signed by celebrity chefs: Janelle Bloom,  George Calombaris, Manu Feildel,, Damian Heads,  Alastair McLeod and Gary Mehigan

Plates for Mates” is a national fundraising event conceived by a group of Australia’s leading chefs as a way to express their care, concern and support for friend, celebrity chef and caterer, Matt Golinski.  Funds raised from Plates for Mates will be in aid of the Matt Golinski Recovery Fund Trust (a financial trust fund set up to assist Matt’s emotional and physical recovery), and shared via a donation to The McComb Research Foundation (a charitable organisation set up by plastic and reconstructive surgeon and former Australian of the Year Dr Fiona Wood along with friend and scientist, Marie Stoner to aid burns research).

Join us for a special cooking class on 21st Oct at Zigi’s Cooking School to raise funds for Mat Golinski recovery.

Beware of fake SMS messages claiming you have won an Ipad!

Today I received a spam text message on my Android from (which doesn’t exist) claiming that I have been selected to win from a list of prizes from Iphone to Ipad. It looked genuine and very professional but I’m no sucker so I certainly went to investigate further. It appears that the sms was really from a company called and if I had put my mobile number in to claim my prize I would have been charged over $4.50 for them to send me SMS with their promotions PLUS I had to opt out by sending STOP to the number 19717777 or I would continue to get these unwanted SMS at a ridiculous cost.

I did a little more research and found this Android forum also makes mention of this SCAM. (Scroll down to the 27th June entry) The people who create these scams make me ill. Sending sms to con people into signing up for such a rip-off should be a priority for our government to stop this sort of blatant robbery. All I can say this has infuriated me so much I’ll be making some enquiries to our Government on why companies can get away with this and also to my telephone provider, Telstra on why they allow it to happen.

Me wear a suit? You have to be kidding!

I’m an unusual woman because I actually don’t really enjoy shopping for clothes! Hard to believe considering I have so many of them and my nick name is Designer Deb!  However …  I LOVE clothes and fashion and now thanks to OJAY they have turned shopping for clothes from a chore to fun!

When I do shop I know what I like, and when I see something  that takes my fancy, I don’t have to try on a whole range of other items just in case something is better!  That’s exactly what happened to me yesterday!  My company, Voxy Lady, recently became brand Ambassadors for OJAY.  I’m thrilled about this because being  professional women speakers our image is very important.  OJAY are the perfect label for professional women like myself and our speakers, who want to look sharp, smart and feminine!

Yesterday, I had a very busy schedule with back to back meetings, and I had also booked in a shopping call at OJAY even though I didn’t have a lot of time to shop.  The experience was wonderful.  My first impression was, WOW….look at the range! I had already seen what was available online, however the retail store was full of amazing colours and styles. I was starting to panic how on earth would I be able to choose?

The second thing that WOWED me was the Store Manager.   Whilst I waited for my turn to be served, the manager was assisting a lady who wanted a certain item but wasn’t in stock. Without hesitating the manager suggested that they could send someone over to a nearby store to collect the time for the customer.

Then it was my turn and I was welcomed with delight from the store manager who showed me some fabulous items that would suit me and my personality including a suit and I never wear suits!  Needless to say I walked out with the suit and a beautiful merino knit top.   For me to buy a suit it had to be really special.  I received quite a few compliments from other shoppers as well because It’s professional, unique and feminine.  I’m a strong woman, however I embrace my femininity and have no desire to look like a man in corporate suit.

One of my meetings yesterday was with Fashion Blogger Mel Champion (The Secret Life of Angel) who gave me the thumbs up for this outfit and took this pic.

As I am always overnighting away from home, I need clothes that are easy to pack or I can repurpose for the next day.  My new suit can be dressed up with a number of different coloured tops so now all I have to do is pack a different top or change the skirt to pants!

Visit OJAY online or at many of their fabulous retail stores

Stand United – Support Jason Russell

With the breakdown of Jason Russell of Kony fame recently reported in the Sydney Morning Herald I have to say my heart goes out to him and his family.  Jason’s wife, Danica quoted “We thought a few thousand people would see the film, but in less than a week, millions of people around the world saw it. While that attention was great for raising awareness about Joseph Kony, it also brought a lot of attention to Jason and, because of how personal the film is, many of the attacks against it were also very personal, and Jason took them very hard.”

It’s so common in our society, people condemning others!  Here is a young man trying to make a difference to the world and instead he gets trodden on.  Jason has made a difference and succeeded in uniting millions of people. Obviously a person with a social conscience, Jason is finding it hard to cope with the criticism of others.  Imagine a world where we stopped bagging out everyone and just praised people for giving it a go!

I personally think the world is united now – we are united online and there’s no stopping it.
